KhorikosNew York City a cappella ensemble KHORIKOS is traveling to the Czech Republic this summer to perform in the prestigious Smetana's Litomyšl Opera Festival, one of Eastern Europe's largest classical music festivals. The singers will be launching the Festival's newest polyphony program while performing and recording performances along the way for their third live concert CD.

The repertoire for the tour will include Czech composer and friend Jan Jirásek’s Missa Propria, as well as Esti Dal by Kodaly; Sleep and When David Heard by Whitacre; Rosa Mystica by Britten; O Magnum Mysterium by Lauridsen; Agnus Dei (from Adagio for Strings) by Barber; Jesus Kristus er Opfaren by Grieg; Bogoroditse Djevo by Pärt; and Hear My Prayer by Purcell. The Czech tour performances will be a great opportunity for Eastern European music enthusiasts to get a taste of what New York City choral music has to offer, and the ensemble is hoping to open up a long-term robust exchange that will bring European groups to New York City as well.

KHORIKOS performances have been described as "other-worldly," "powerful" and "cutting-edge." As you can hear by listening to them, they are talented, passionate and dedicated to this music, volunteering their time to create it because they love what they do.

KHORIKOS's first live album was nominated for best classical a cappella album by the CASA Music Awards, and their second, SAROS, is about to be released. You can get your copy of the tour CD for just $10 at the Czech Tour IndieGoGo Campaign, along with concert tickets and other cool mementos like a digital photo documentary and t-shirt. There's even a weekend stay with breakfast for two at the Hotel Intercontinental in midtown available as a perk for a larger contribution. Every dollar supports the ensemble's direct travel expenses. Groups like KHORIKOS depend on the support of our music community to thrive. Help spread the word, too, by sharing on Facebook and Twitter!
