All over the globe, Sweet Adelines International choruses are joining together to teach the world to sing. This January, hundreds of choruses will participate in the organization’s first Global Open House event. Sweet Adelines International is an organization of nearly 25,000 women worldwide who sing four-part a cappella harmony, barbershop style. Women of all ages who enjoy singing are invited to visit an Open House at a chorus near them. In the Greater New York Region, thirteen choruses from lower New York State, Long Island and northern New Jersey are opening their doors to women who want to join the chorus, join the fun!

Members share a love for music and singing barbershop harmony. As a member, you can experience the exhilaration of performing and singing with a group of real women who share a love of harmony and friendship. Any woman of average singing ability, with or without vocal training, will find a part that fits her voice range with the help of trained musical leaders and directors.

"Women join to sing, and Sweet Adelines International offers expert vocal training and education, but what members gain is so much more than that," says Lisbet Duponte, Regional Education Coordinator. "They gain a sisterhood for life, opportunities for personal growth, and a discovery of creative and administrative talents they never knew they had."

All choruses perform regularly throughout their communities, offering their talent for entertainment at civic events and charitable functions. Most compete annually, some offer scholarships. Choruses range in size from 15 to more than 80 members.
